“I wrote Riley & Ben to try to understand the real reason my wife, Ruth, originally married someone else,” said White. “As I got into the story, I realized it was important to explore my strained relationship with my stepmother. It may be the only story I have to tell. So much of it comes from personal experience.”

In addition to creative writing, White performs pro bono legal work, primarily for the Eritrean community in Atlanta. He and Ruth have shared almost five decades together. Their family includes six children, thirteen grandchildren, and Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn, their King Charles spaniels.
